Applying for SERTC Academy DHS/FEMA-funded Blended Learning Courses

Online Instruction & In-Person Learning

Expand your first response and hazmat knowledge from anywhere! Introducing SERTC Academy – our all new hybrid training platform featuring the experienced SERTC instructors you know and trust delivering the latest hazmat education to the comfort of your home or station.

SERTC Academy courses pair online training sessions with in-person residential training conducted at our world-renowned SERTC facility in Pueblo, Colorado. Online courses address all classroom materials normally covered during our full-residential courses. Completing course material through live-streaming sessions allow you to start your training with less time away from home and work. They allow you to interact with SERTC instructors but also provide the opportunity to view and complete recorded trainings should you be unable to tune into live sessions. Upon successful completion of the online portion of the course, participants are then eligible to attend the abbreviated in-person residential courses at our training facility, freeing you up to jump right into the hands-on, immersive training experience SERTC is known for.

Participants will receive completion certificates for both the on-line sessions, as well as the in-person residential courses.

STEPS:

QUALIFY: Qualifying individuals must be a state, local, tribal, or territorial First Responder and receive approval to attend from both their Supervisor and State Administrative Agency (SAA). Follow the steps below to apply for training.

Step 1 APPLYING: Apply by clicking on WEB course and date on the calendar. You will need the following to complete your application:

  • Your State’s SAA Contact Information
  • Your FEMA SID

Note: When applying for the web-based portion of the course, you will also have the opportunity at the same time to select a class date for the residential portion of the course.

Step 2: Once online application is submitted, you will receive a SERTC Application email from Register@aar.com with further instructions.

Due to updated and expanded spam filters, please add Register@aar.com to your contacts to avoid email issues. This will ensure that all emails between our system and your email providers will not be blocked or rejected. If you do NOT see a same day email from Register@aar.com, please send email to sertc@aar.com or call 719.584.0584.

Step 3: Either print the application or you may electronically sign it, forward to your supervisor for signature, and finally forward to your SAA for their approval.

  • It is your responsibility to follow up with your SAA to confirm receipt of your application and that it has been approved and sent to SERTC for registration. Applications do not guarantee or register you in a training course.

Step 4: Once the application has been received by SERTC directly from the SAA, SERTC Administration will register you based on a first come first served basis, depending upon seating availability. SERTC will do its best to register you in your 1st Choice class preference.

Step 5: Once registered, you will receive two emails. A Registration Confirmation email with tasks and details for your course, and an email from SERTC Academy (customercare@gotowebinar.com) with your webinar information.
