Just Reported – Student Feedback This Summer

SERTC continues to deliver the knowledge, skills training, experiences, and support that enable first responders to “level up” in their preparedness for all manners of surface transportation incidents. Here’s what we’ve heard from students recently:

From Tank Car Specialist (TCS) course

“Thank you for a great class. The lectures on specifics involving each tank car were valuable. Also, the hands on application of conducting a product transfer and the vapor flare.”

“Teachers broke things down and explained things to students in a helpful way.”

“Understanding all the differences in the valves, and understanding how they worked, were the most valuable things that I learned.”

“The hands on training was most valuable to me. Having the parts explained to me in-person instead of just in PowerPoint. The instructors were very engaging and entertaining. They were knowledgeable and had an answer to every question.”

From Highway Emergency Response Specialist (HERS) course

“I am a hands on person and loved the skills portion of this course.”

“For my job, the tank identification and what information to gather for contractors in route was the most valuable learning.”

“The knowledge of the instructors was the best I’ve ever had in a class. I’ll be back for sure to take the advanced highway class.”

“I will be encouraging others to come take this class.”

From Leadership & Management of Surface Transportation Incidents (LMSTI) course

“Good training. The drills out in the field were most valuable for me.”

“The class as a whole was very informative and helped to get a broader understanding of controlling the scene. Coming from the refinery, our Command system is much more condensed.”

“Looking forward to taking the new AFFIRM class in the future.”
